THE TONGEREN VETERANS FOOTBALL FESTIVAL 2012 MILLEN, BELGIUM MAY 18, 19, 20
The Festival: We have an invitation from a brilliant football festival taking place in Millen, Belgium close to the Holland/German borders. This festival is the 42nd and will take place on 18, 19 & 20 May 2012 with a friendly game available on Sunday if you wish. The games start on Wednesday evening but there is no problem only attending the games at the weekend. In 2011 a record number of teams (154) attended the event. This “festival” is a very social event and involves as many games as you want to play and as much beer as you want to drink. There is lots of entertainment laid on after the football in the form of live bands and DJ’s as well as barbecues and beer. Our dates are based on a Friday departure returning on the Sunday, however this can be changed subject to your preference.
Accommodation: There is a variety of hostel and hotel accommodation available for this event, however we have reserved rooms at ‘The Berkenhoff’ guest house which is a very modern contemporary B & B. Should this become full there are other options available.
What? International football festival ‘The Happening’, open to veteran 35+, recreation and company teams. Their mission: fair-play, friendship and fun!
Teams from Belgium, Holland, France, England, Luxemburg, Germany, Spain and Portugal are confirmed for 2012.
Dates: Friday 18th: games from 6.00pm till midnight on a rotational basis (Each team will have a 3 hr slot where they will play every other 30 mins) Saturday 19th: games from 2.00pm till 9.00pm Sunday 20th: normally no games, but a friendly can be arranged Why? This festival has been supporting local charities since it began and 25 Euros per game goes to the charities. This fee is included in your price (based on 6 games).
Price per person: Based on a party of 20 – from £240pp
